“Fun at the Piano” from Hollywood to Tiburon: A Lifetime in Music with Ron McFarland
Please join us for a Musical Conversation and Live Performance: Ron McFarland in conversation with Tiburon Town Historian, Landmarks Society Archivist, and Film Maker David Gotz.
Ron McFarland, a California native and Tiburon music teacher, has known the glare of the limelight since his teens. At age 16, he became the protégé of the legendary Ethel Leginska. As a young man he met and performed for numerous internationally known artists, composers, and conductors, including Artur Schnabel and Benjamin Britten, and he studied composition with Arnold Schoenberg.
He has written operas, symphonies, concertos, chamber works, songs and music for the piano, theater for children and has many recordings.
Ron McFarland has been teaching piano to children and adults in Marin for over 30 years, and has helped produce hundreds of enthusiastic and well-trained pianists, several of whom have gone on to win music competitions and to perform professionally.
