Exhibit

The Allure of Cuba | Photographs by Bob Hemstock
Tue Nov 21, 10:00am to Thu Dec 14, 9:00pm |
Founders Room

The artist's reception will be held Tuesday, November 21 from 6-8pm.

"Cuba tends to grow on you, especially its people.

On the one hand, they are very poor, live and work in poorly maintained buildings and the country is in many ways frozen in the 1950s.

On the other hand, the people are healthy and well-educated and they have a zest for life, dance, and music.

And they embrace visitors to their country. In this exhibit you’ll see ballet dancers pose in a decrepit mansion, sugar cane workers on a break in the fields, Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club members proudly mounted on their bikes, Cuban cowboys at their annual horse census gathering and boxing boys in the ring.

These photos were taken during three trips over three years and oh how I can’t wait to return."

The exhibit can be seen during library open hours when the room is not in use.
