Join us for a night of hair-raising aeronautical adventure as Betty Goerke shares the story of America’s first transcontinental air race from her new book.

In October 1919, fifty-nine pilots flying in open cockpits with no parachutes competed in a long distance air race that began in San Francisco. Newspapers gave it front-page press.

But what began as a scheme to promote the future of flight turned into an fight for survival. Goerke is a College of Marin professor and author of several books.
