Girls Who Code Clubs brings high-quality computer science education to 6th to 12th-grade girls.
Girls Who Code was founded with a single mission: to close the gender gap in technology.
The Clubs Curriculum is designed to be an integral part of expanding the pipeline of female engineers in the United States by giving girls positive early experience with using computer science to impact their world.
Specifically, the Club experience centers around a CS Impact Project: a challenging, open-ended project where girls will collaborate to envision, design, build and test an idea that is relevant to them and their communities.
The Project serves as one answer to the question: “Why learn to code?”, and provides girls with the motivation to independently explore core computational thinking ideas through self-guided projects and tasks.
The balance of independence and community is intended to a cultivate sisterhood and mutual respect that the girls carry forward as they continue their technical education in the future.
