Steve Machtinger is a violist, lawyer, and writer. He has been a member of the Marin Symphony’s viola section since 1982 and for the past four years has been President of the Marin Symphony’s Board of Directors. 

He will talk about Vadim Gluzman's upcoming performance of the Beethoven Violin Concerto with the Marin Symphony.

Steve is a scholar of Mozart, giving lecture-performances throughout the Bay Area and around the country, including lecture-presentations at the Commonwealth Club of California and Humanities West. 

Podcasts of his lecture-performances entitled “Yes We Kant: Mozart and the Sublime”; “Machtinger on Mercy in Mozart’s Menuetto-Allegretto”; “Mozart and Masonic Semiotics”; and “Lamentation and the Limits of Philosophy” are available on the Commonwealth Club’s website.

Steve and his wife Susan make their home in Tiburon.
