Accomplished mid-career artist Suzanne Siminger paints Contemporary Realist Landscape in both oil and watercolor, and is primarily a studio painter but still finds inspiration on occasional outdoor painting trips.
Working from reference photographs she has taken on various outings, her finely crafted and detailed paintings can take months to complete.
This exhibition presents some of her meanderings, from Marin county to Mendocino, Sonoma and the High Sierra near Lake Tahoe, and of the Southwest where she lived for five years in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Siminger grew up in Santa Monica, California and attended Chouinard Art Institute earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree before joining the Peace Corps and serving in Brazil.
The better part of her professional career was in television where she was a courtroom artist and did news graphics, earning an Emmy Award.
She then attended the San Francisco Art Institute and received a Masters of Fine Art degree.
For the past twenty five years she has devoted her time to painting the landscape.
She is currently working on a book In An Artist’s Shoes: Time and the Art of Painting.
Come to her reception on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, from 6-8pm. Her exhibit is on display June 7-July 7.
The exhibit can be seen during Library open hours when the room is not in use.
