Symbolism and Narrative in Still Life

An art reception and exhibit with paintings by Linda Schroeter. The exhibit can be seen during library open hours when the room is not in use.

“Allegory and symbolism in the paintings of the Dutch masters inspire my work with their sense of mystery, magical communication, both unpredictable and fantastic.

For many years I have explored and practiced their traditional painting techniques, utilizing light manipulation through paint layers, and pushing form and elements to create the sense of three-dimensional space.

By using the power of the visual image to evoke emotions and the elements of surprise, I strive to appeal to the viewer’s intellect and one’s own narrative.”

An artist’s reception is on Tuesday, September 11, from 6–8pm.

Linda will give an Artist’s Talk on Sunday, September 16, at 1pm.

The exhibit runs from September 11 through October 4 and can be seen during library open hours when the room is not in use.
