To kick off National Poetry Month, teens in grades 6-12 will explore poetry with Del Mar teacher, Dana Lomax. In this workshop, students will write, revise, and share their poems. Dana Lomax is a nationally recognized poet and educator, the author of five books of poems, and winner of numerous writing awards, including the John Hopkins University Press Award for Excellence in North American Literature. Dana Teen Lomax is a poet and teacher whose most recent work, Kindergarde: Avant-garde Poems, Plays, Stories, and Songs for Children won the 2014 Lion and the Unicorn Prize for Children's Literature. She is the author of several books of poems and her work has received the San Francisco Foundation’s Joseph Henry Jackson prize for poetry among other awards. She served as the Director of Small Press Traffic Literary Arts Center in San Francisco and currently teaches writing at San Francisco State University and Del Mar Middle School.
