Building Full-on Fantasy & Sci-Fi Worlds & Characters
An out-of-this-world fiction writing workshop with Annie Fox
Calling science fiction and fantasy fans! Are you a writer or reader who wants to learn about world-building and characters? Author Annie Fox shares how to create magical worlds. Workshop your ideas!
We all love games, stories, and films that capture our imagination so completely that our current reality vanishes and we enter a fantastic world inhabited by fictional characters who seem as real as...well, real people. Ever wonder how writers build those worlds and create those characters?
In this session for fantasy and science fiction readers and writers, author Annie Fox shares the process that enabled her to write her latest YA (Young Adult) novel, Leeta Simtar: A Life on Two Planets (March 2025), a story about an interspecies hybrid who travels 40 light years from her home planet to find a real home.
Bring an idea for a story or one you’re working on and Annie will give you the tools you need to start developing unforgettable worlds and characters.
This program is geared for adults; stay tuned for an upcoming workshop for teens.
Annie Fox is an author of books for children and teens who loves making art, baking, gardening, photography, hiking in the San Francisco Bay Area, traveling, and, most of all, being with her husband David and her family, including Gracie the Dog. The Little Things That Kill: A Teen Friendship Afterlife Apology Tour was her debut novel and Leeta Simtar: A Life on Two Planets is her latest.
