Celebrate Like a Roman!

Classics with Skye

Sat Dec 9, 2023
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Founders Room

Immerse yourself in the holiday traditions of ancient Rome. Grades 3-5.

It's the holiday season, and not just for us! The ancient Romans would have celebrated Saturnalia around this time thousand of years ago, along with their many other festivals throughout the year.

Join us for a teen-led exploration of Roman holiday traditions. You will learn about the Roman military celebrations, the mythology behind their holidays, make laurel wreaths, play games, and exchange small gifts.

Skye Hsu is a junior at San Francisco University High School. She takes Latin and has completed and presented an independent study on Roman history at her school’s winter symposium. Her first introduction to Classics extends far back to her elementary school days when she first picked up a Percy Jackson book at a library.

Snacks provided, grades 3-5 only.
