Book Circle: Books Binding Us Together

A community literacy initiative offering curated book circles. Through shared reading and dialogue, participants engage in meaningful discussions that deepen understanding, build connection, and expand perspectives towards both individual and social change. It’s a fun way to be in community and share in the many ways literature transforms us!

Sept 12  For back to school, we will be reading East of Eden by John Steinbeck.  It will be coming this fall as a television mini-series!  This epic classic is a sprawling generational saga set in California's Salinas Valley. It follows the intertwined lives of the Trask and Hamilton families as they grapple with the eternal struggle between good and evil, free will, and the burden of parental legacy.

Oct 17 For a historical theme, we will read, This Vast Enterprise: A New History of Lewis and Clark.  A 2026 non-fiction book by historian and journalist Craig Fehrman. It retells the Lewis and Clark expedition through an ensemble perspective, shifting points of view across chapters to highlight the diverse people who shaped the journey beyond just the two captains.

Nov 14  The Glorians: Visitations from the Holy Ordinary by Terry Tempest Williams.  A 2026 work of creative nonfiction and memoir. It explores how to find grace, beauty, and hope in the mundane, overlooked details of the natural world during times of deep societal crisis, political stress, and climate change.
