Introducing Our Seed Library

Cultivating Communities and Green Futures!

We’re thrilled to announce the newest addition to our community offerings: the Seed Library! As spring blooms around us, what better time to delve into the world of gardening, sustainability, and community connection?

So, what exactly is a Seed Library? Think of it as a hub for sharing seeds within our community. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener with a green thumb or just beginning your journey into the world of gardening, our Seed Library is here to support you every step of the way.

Here’s how it works:

Browse and Borrow: Visit our library and explore our collection of seeds. From heirloom tomatoes to fragrant herbs, we have a diverse selection to suit every taste and garden size. Simply choose the seeds you’d like to borrow.

Grow and Enjoy: Take your seeds home and start planting! Whether you have a backyard oasis or a cozy windowsill, you can cultivate your own green space and watch your seeds grow into vibrant plants.

Share and Connect: The beauty of our Seed Library lies in its ability to foster connections within our community. Share gardening tips, swap stories, and celebrate successes with fellow gardeners. Together, we can cultivate a greener, more sustainable future. Harvested seeds or starter plants can be returned to the library to be enjoyed by others or planted by teen volunteers in the Teen Garden located on the patio adjacent to the Teen Room. Harvested seeds should be clearly labeled and pesticide-free.

By participating in our Seed Library, you’re not only growing your own garden but also contributing to a larger movement of sustainability and community resilience. Whether you’re interested in reducing food miles, preserving biodiversity, or simply enjoying the therapeutic benefits of gardening, our Seed Library is here to support you on your journey.

The Library has given away over 250 seed packets to the community so far, thanks to the help of teen volunteers and seed donations from our friendly collaborators, local nursery Ground and Marin Master Gardeners

So, come on down to the Library and let’s sow the seeds of change together! Happy gardening!
